A community portal about Nowa Huta launched in July 2010 for the district's 60th anniversary. Entries by historians, films, photos, animations and audio, plus user contributions verified by professionals.
NHpedia.pl was created to show Nowa Huta as it really is, and to correct the stereotypes that had built up around the district over six decades. Work began in 2009 and the portal launched in July 2010, the year of Nowa Huta's 60th anniversary.
It was not an ordinary encyclopedia. NHpedia paired entries written by historians with films, photographs, animations and audio recordings, and any visitor could submit their own material; after verification by professionals it became part of the encyclopedia. The goal was a tool for community integration and local identity.

The project was delivered jointly by the TerazHuta.pl portal, hmmmstudio.pl, ArcelorMittal Poland and the Kraków Festival Office. Content came from institutions including the Archaeological Museum in Kraków, the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków, the Nowa Huta Cultural Centre and Teatr Ludowy.
The launch was covered by PAP, Wprost, Dziennik Polski, money.pl, Wirtualna Polska and dzieje.pl, and Polish Radio Czwórka dedicated a programme to it.
